Ultimate Shape Sampler DONE!

As promised I'm posting photos of the class sample I posted in my previous blog.  I had fun working on this at my retreat in McCloud last week and especially had fun experimenting with all different types and colors of threads! Here's a photo of the "before quilting".  My previous post shows how I used the little Ultimate Shape to mark the center of the triangle and then used half of it for the other two sides to fill my space. This photo shows the "after".  I ended up "screbbling" (scribbled pebbles) to add sunshine/shadow to the triangles as it...

New Class Sample-Ultimate Shape/Ultimate Stencils

This class sample was just finished up this afternoon.  It's still a little rough around the edges as the binding needs to be completed, pressing done and threads clipped. I love to teach my students how they can very easily create a beautiful, heirloom style quilted wholecloth or pieced quilt by repeating one or two shapes and filling in with a simple background.   For this class sample I used pink and gray Cherrywood 6" squares.  I used the 6" Ultimate Shape inside all the blocks.  Half of the blocks used the Ultimate Borders flower motif and the stars were...

New Class Sample~Ultimate Shape

I'm getting new class samples ready to rock and roll in my machine at this week's retreat in McCloud.  This sample will be devoted to the Ultimate Shape with a pretty border treatment from the Ultimate Borders.   I used the 2" Ultimate Shape and placed it in the middle of the green half-square triangle. Then I repeated half of the Shape on either side. LOVE how this space was filled!  I will fill the yellow areas with repetitive lines.  I'll post pictures of the finished piece after the retreat! Hugs, Cindy :)

"Sister Act"

Many of you, from all over the world, are familiar with my very special "Nun's Quilt" story and the seven year journey she has put me on.  Her story continues to unfold and reveal itself and I have now been put on another journey of sorts...recreating her.   I was going to withhold sharing my new quilt, "Sister Act" until the end of next year when she was done but she is so special I wanted to share her journey of being created WHILE she was being created.  I'm not at liberty to divulge why I am creating a second...

Ultimate Borders-Repetitive Square

In keeping with my blog tutorials, I'm passing on some tips on quilting borders using the Repetitive Square stencil from the Ultimate Borders collection. I love this design as there are a jillion different ways you can repeat this, add to it with different motifs and add other borders to it.   I'm going to keep this tutorial very simple.   I marked the repetitive squares once... ...and then moved the stencil over and added another layer of squares.  The top squares have been filled with repetitive lines and the middle squares with cathedral windows. In previous posts I've talked about...
